TEKWave / TEKControl FAQ

Guest List, Passes, and ePasses

How long does an ePass last?2025-02-13T19:00:23+00:00
  • Permanent Visitors: Their ePass will remain valid indefinitely, but each pass you send will expire after 2 weeks.
  • Temporary Visitors: By default, their ePass is valid until midnight on the day it’s issued. You can specify start and end times, and their pass will only be valid within those times.
What’s the difference between creating a Party list and adding guests individually?2025-02-26T18:34:35+00:00

Creating a Party list helps the guardhouse plan ahead for events, assisting with staffing and resource allocation. While not required, it helps staff anticipate large gatherings. Party events are highlighted in the TEKControl system for visibility.

I just sent an ePass to my guest, but the gate isn’t opening. Why?2025-02-13T18:59:38+00:00

It can take up to 5 minutes for ePasses to activate in the system. To ensure the gate opens, send the ePass before your guest’s arrival.

How do I send an ePass to a guest from my list?2025-02-26T18:36:33+00:00

Why do I need to add everyone (including residents) to my guest list?2025-02-13T18:59:04+00:00

All residents and visitors must be on your guest list. The TEKWave system is the only record used by our staff to grant or deny access. Guards cannot verify someone’s identity based on their RFID transponder alone.

How do I add residents (e.g., my children) to my guest list?2025-02-26T18:36:03+00:00

Why does the guard say they can’t find my guest, even though I added them to my list?2025-02-13T18:58:22+00:00

It may take up to 5 minutes for newly added guests to appear in the guardhouse system. Please make sure to add your guests before their expected arrival time.

Troubleshooting

My guest isn’t receiving the initial text message. What can I do?2025-02-13T19:01:00+00:00

There are a few possible reasons for this. Here are some solutions:

  • Have your guest save “Chateau Elan Pass” (770) 746-3660 as a new contact.
  • Both you and your guest should close all apps and restart your phones, then try sending the pass again.
  • If the issue persists, send the ePass to your guest’s email instead. Email delivery is generally more reliable than SMS, especially if there are network issues.
Why didn’t my guest receive a link or QR Code after I added their phone number?2025-02-13T19:00:44+00:00

The first text your guest receives will ask for permission to send links. They must reply “YES” before receiving their ePass.

Legends Club

I’m holding an event at the Legends Club. How do I handle my guests?2025-02-26T18:38:31+00:00

Provide a list of your guests to The Legends Club staff. They’ll enter your guests into their system, and the guard staff will print appropriate passes.

I live in Chateau Elan but not in The Legends. Will my ePasses work at the Legends Gates?2025-02-13T19:02:19+00:00

No, they won’t. Guests visiting the Legends Club (e.g., for dinner, golf) will need to get a pass from the Thompson Mill Guardhouse.

Deliveries

Why do deliveries and vendors have trouble accessing the community?2025-02-13T19:01:55+00:00

GPS apps often don’t account for our community’s gated access. Vendors and delivery drivers must enter through the Guardhouse Entrance off Thompson Mill Road. When placing an order, include a note directing them to the Guardhouse at 2585 Autumn Maple Drive.

Do I need to add delivery drivers to my guest list?2025-02-13T19:01:41+00:00

No, delivery drivers do not need to be added to your guest list. The guardhouse records all deliveries and vehicle details. Please do not send ePasses to delivery drivers, as this could interfere with proper documentation.

Real Estate – Selling Your Home

I’m selling my home, and unaccompanied visitors are coming to the house. How can they get in?2025-02-13T19:01:19+00:00

Until the property is officially sold, all visitors must be added to your guest list. Real estate agents can escort their clients in but cannot get other visitors or vendors inside. If you want, you can allow your real estate agent to download the TEKControl Visitor App and use your login information to add guests.

Please note: You are responsible for any speeding violations or property damage caused by your guests.
